You do not need to have a diagnosed learning disability to use our services. LDAY is here to help all learners. Please note, however, that our capacity is limited and you may need to wait for some of these services.

Our Adult Learning Facilitators can support adults in the ways listed below.

  • Have you been newly diagnosed with a learning disability and are wondering what to do now? Or perhaps you are just starting to realize that learning and work are harder for you than it seems to be for others. The Adult Learning Facilitator can help you identify resources and strategies for your next steps.

  • Executive functions are the skills that help us get things done: planning, organizing, time management, emotional regulation, impulse control and more. There are many causes for executive dysfunction, such as ADHD, depression, or stress. (Please note none of these examples are learning disabilities. They can, however, impact learning and executive function.)

Fortunately, executive function skills can be improved with practice or with supported tools. The Adult Learning Facilitator can help with one-on-one coaching or refer you to another team member at LDAY.

For information about the Seeing My Time® program, check out our Workshops page.

  • Are you going back to school? Was school challenging for you as a child or youth? We can help you evaluate your strengths, and offer tools and strategies for skills that need support.

  • Employers have an obligation to accommodate employees with disabilities. The Adult Learning Facilitator can help you evaluate your workplace to figure out what type of support or accommodations would benefit you.

  • LDAY works with Dr. Gavin Reid to offer psycho-educational assessments in Whitehorse a few times a year. A psycho-educational assessment is a thorough evaluation of how a person learns and is used to diagnose learning disabilities.

Please note there is a significant waitlist for assessment, and children may get priority in the queue. The cost is approximately $2,400.

For more information, contact Steph or Krista.

FAQs

can lday help me with ADHD?

We get a lot of calls about ADHD as many adults are realizing they may have it. ADHD is not a learning disability, so it is not our primary area of expertise.

However, many ADHD symptoms are related to problems with executive function (your ability to plan, manage time, initiate tasks, complete tasks, regulate emotions, etc). We do offer support and strategies for managing executive function challenges. Contact our adult learning facilitator to learn more.

How do I get diagnosed with ADHD?

For a formal diagnosis of ADHD, you will need a psycho-educational assessment. There are psychologists in Whitehorse who do these assessments. For a current list, please call our office at 668-5167. Please note that the cost for assessment can vary depending on the practitioner and the complexity of the case.
