CARMAN LAM BRAR

Carman (she/her) was born and raised in BC and has been lucky to call Yukon home since 2014. Since then, she has worked in public schools and libraries in Pelly Crossing, Old Crow, and Whitehorse.

Carman studied at the University of British Columbia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a Bachelor of Education with a focus on social-emotional education. She loves working with people and is passionate about how we can make communities more inclusive and equitable. In 2021, Carman started a business called Let’s Talk About Race, where she teaches workshops on anti-racism practices and education. (The LDAY team has participated in one of her workshops and we’re fans!)

Carman is also the wrangler of two young kids and two older dogs. She may be spotted biking to different playgrounds or walking the beautiful trails in town. In her spare moments, she enjoys singing in choirs, dabbling in theatre and improv, reading about the brain, and learning her heritage language of Cantonese.
